Monday©

I like Monday as it has a certain anticipation to starting the week off in my routine.  For Reggie and I, Monday is getting the wash started, eating breakfast, taking a walk, writing on the computer, running errands, and taking time in between to walk in the garden or sit and relax with one another.

We start to accomplish things that need to be done first thing in the morning.  Reggie is likes to get up around 5:30 am, go to the bathroom, and then eat.  While he is eating, I start a load of wash, then we go back to bed where he goes back to sleep and I meditate for a while.  Monday’s routine feels so good as I like to get things done, so we can play later on.  Routine feeds my body, mind, and soul; it gives me a feeling of stability, security, and fulfillment.

As a child I started out by helping my Mother wash clothes on a washboard for a family of five, then hanging the clothes outside on a line to dry; this was an all day job.  Now I can do other things while my laundry is washing and drying, which gives me more time.  Today, my laundry is done by noon and I have the rest of the day to do whatever I want.  I am overjoyed at the precious freedom this give me.

At the end of the day, I give thanks for the great washers, dryers, dishwashers, and other appliances that make life so very easy.  These things give me so much more time to be aware of and enjoy all Spirit’s gifts.  Reggie gives thanks also, as it means I have more time to take him for a ride or walk, and to play with him.  Nancy and Reggie♥

Spring Rain©

Spring is here today with the sun shining, the sky that beautiful blue, vegetation budding out, and the air so very fresh after a few days of refreshing rain.  While Reggie and I were walking this morning, I took many deep breaths of the fresh, after-rain air that smells so good.  It took me back to living in the Los Angeles area and the smell of smog when I walked.  I thought about the exhaust from the cars that my dog breathed each day as we walked.  I wouldn’t let that dog drink from the water running in the street as I didn’t know if there were chemicals from lawn spraying.  I didn’t notice the smog while I lived there unless it was very bad.

The air and water here make me so grateful that Reggie and I have clean, fresh air to breathe almost every day, and that Reggie can drink from the clean water flowing down the street after the rain.

What precious pure gifts these are from nature with which to fill our bodies, hearts, and souls!  That I am aware at so much deeper a level brings a new layer of appreciation for my spiritual journey.  It makes each moment more special with all the blessings from the weather, the earth, and Spirit.  Nancy and Reggie♥

Reggie – Waiting©

Reggie was waiting patiently while I went to lunch with friends today.  He curls up in the recliner all warm and safe while the rain pours down outside.  He has a doggie door so he can go out if he needs to, but he normally waits until I am home and then goes out.  When I go to the store, to the bank, to get my hair cut, or wherever I go, he waits patiently in the car or in the house.  He has mastered patience for the most part.

The only time he is not patient is when he wants his food, then he jumps up on me and if I don’t move right away, he barks.  I know this is serious business because this is the only time he barks or show impatience with me.   Well, unless he wants me to rub his tummy and keep rubbing it, then he will put his paw on my hand trying to pull it toward his tummy.  He makes me laugh as he has a mind of his own.

He is a good example for me in waiting patiently, as I tend to be a fast mover and want to see things move along at a fairly rapid pace.  When I watch him, slow myself down, and allow myself to feel how content he is to wait, I know he is teaching me an important lesson.  I trust everything is in Divine Order and when I stay present to that I am content.  When I let myself be distracted, I have to consciously bring myself back to the trust in Divine Order.  Reggie is such a good teacher and praises me with his little body jumping into my lap.  Nancy and Reggie♥
