Reggie’s Friends©

Reggie has a little friend named Teddy living next door.  He and Teddy look alike, except Teddy is 4 pounds and Reggie is 17 pounds.  These two adorable little dogs love each other so much.  They get so excited to see each other, they jump, run in circles, and pee pee all over everything.  I take them outside immediately as I know they need to get that first excitement out of their systems before they will be able to play inside.   They love the adventure of running through the plants and under the bushes to see what is new today.  They never hesitate when they see each other whether it is walking down the block, in the park, or looking out the window of the car.  They are always excited to see their friend.

Reggie teaches me with his open-hearted love of his friend.  I looked up the definition of friend in the dictionary and there were a variety of meanings from “a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard to a member of the same nation, party, etc.”  Reggie loves Teddy, likes some of the other dogs in the neighborhood, and regards others as being from another nation.

There are a few friends that I love in this open-hearted way.  I get so excited when they come to see me as there is an openness of love that permeates everything we do.  There is an understanding that transcends the ordinary without words.  Others are people I feel friendly toward, such as my neighbors, dance club members, spiritual circle supporters, and so forth.  I like that there are different types of friends as it would be very difficult to keep an open-hearted relationship with every person I know.  New friends are brought into Reggie and my life at times.  I love that they bring in a freshness, a vitality, and excitement of the unknown, the unfolding of who they are, their humor, their life stories, their playfulness, the way they love, and the spiritual beauty within their souls.

Reggie and I are blessed to have wonderful friends of all types filling our lives with excitement, adventure, and love.  Nancy and Reggie♥

Easter©

As I was driving to Circle this morning, I listened to a song I haven’t heard in a couple of years, “Hold you in the Light” from Kit Holmes album “Return to Love“.  The words to the song are:

It’s in your eyes – The questions of the ages

There are challenges and changes – In everything you see

It’s hard to trust – And sometimes the best of us

Can lose our way – That’s why I’m here to say

I’m gonna hold you in the light – Hold you in the light

Hold you til you know again – That everything’s alright

And I’ll remind you – As you are, you are enough

I’m gonna hold you in the light – Of love

It’s in your hands – There are angels in the answer

Choose your second chances – This is where you’re meant to be

Don’t second guess – Life will give you all the happiness

That you deserve – Rest assured

I’m gonna ask you to remember – That you have everything you need

Every time you look into a mirror – ’cause no matter where life finds you

The light of love surrounds you – You’ll always have the only words

You’ll ever need to hear

I’m gonna hold you in the light – Hold you in the light

Hold you til you know again – That everything’s alright

And I’ll remind you – As you are, you are enough

I’m gonna hold you in the light – Of love

Kit Holmes played this song at the church I was attending.  I listened to this song over and over as it brought me such comfort to know that I was being held in the Light of Love.  The verses mirrored the changes in my life.  My husband died.  I had profound grief.  I sold the home I was living in, and my son and his wife invited me to stay with them as long as I needed.  I looked for a home in a different area, found it, and moved.  I had health issues.  I had family issues.

Yet through it all I knew that I was held in the Light of Love, feeling my husband’s and Spirit’s presence as I made each decision, noticing how smooth things flowed as I started a new life in a new location with new friends and new spiritual connections.  It was a death inside me in many ways, a resurrection of myself in a different way, renewal of my life focus, and a knowing that something wonderful is happening every moment if I stay aware.

The first holiday my husband and I had was Easter, so it has special meaning for me that is religious, spiritual, and personal.  This Easter, Reggie and I give thanks that our lives have been, and are, held in the Light of Love always.   Nancy and Reggie♥

Abundance©

Today I went to the grocery store.  Every time I am in the store, I am in awe of all the abundance available.  That I live in a world, country, state, city, and community that overflows with foods of all kinds and varieties humbles me.  This is such a precious gift that I take for granted at times.  When I think about the vast majority of people in the world who do not live with this level of abundance, I give great, great thanks that I do.  Keeping myself aware with gratitude of all of the abundance I have is one of my goals.

Abundance comes in many forms, but having food to eat is of major importance.  I do not waste food.  If I have leftovers at a restaurant, I bring them home, including any bread, chips, or anything else that I know will be thrown away.  I eat it all, adding something to it or it to something, or heating bread with butter and chips with cheese under the broiler to freshen them up and make them tasty.

I say a prayer that the leftover food will be used in some way to benefit All That Is.

Reggie never leaves any food, or even the smell of food, as he licks his bowl or the plate clean.  He has the “waste not, want not” and gratitude down pat, as he wags his tail rapidly when he get any food.   Nancy and Reggie♥
