Today I had lunch with two tall handsome men who made my life so much easier when I moved to Auburn. It brought back to me how being in the right place at the right time changed my life. I was looking for a home in Auburn, CA without a realtor. My friend flew in to help me and we were staying at the Best Western Motel. I asked the desk clerk if she could recommend a realtor for me. She handed me a card with Revive Realty and the realtor’s name on it. She said he was a personal friend of hers, that he knew the area, that he was honest, and that he would do a good job for me.
My friend immediately said he is a gift from Spirit. So, I called him and arranged for him to meet us then show us areas and houses around Auburn. Over the next few weeks, he emailed me properties and I came back to Auburn to look at the ones he showed me a few times. None of them were right for me as either the floor plan was off, too much work was needed, the location wasn’t good, or the price was too high. Spirit was helping me screen out inappropriate properties and areas.
I found and put an offer in on a house on the top of a hill with a wonderful view. I loved this house, but had reservations inside myself about parts of it. The house needed some work, so the realtor called his brother to come help with estimates for the work. He spent a lot of his time and energy helping plan and estimate the cost of the work. Two weeks before the house was to close, I received an email from the seller that I had 72 hours to come up with the money as he had a buyer who would pay more and the sale wasn’t contingent on the sale of my house. I talked with my realtor and we agreed it was best to let the property go.
Spirit was protecting me from a property that would not have been right for me, from spending too much money on work to bring the property up, and from living in a location where Reggie and I would not have been safe.
So, I went back to house hunting and this went on for a while. Then one Friday I saw an MLS listing of two houses that I liked. One Open House was only from 11 to 2 on Saturday and the other was open longer. I called the realtor and said I would drive up to look at these two houses and he was available to show them to me.
At that time I was staying with my son in Upland, CA, got up at 4:30 am and drove to Auburn arriving at 11:30 am. I texted the realtor and he came to show me the houses. I went to both, then came back to the one that was open from 11 to 2 and said I wanted to put an offer in on it. Everything went so smoothly. After negotiating the offer was accepted and I moved into my home on May 4, 2015. It was the right home, in the right neighborhood, at the right price, and with only cosmetic changes needed. Spirit seeing that I was at the right place at the right time.
Before the movers brought my furniture, I wanted to get the house painted inside as it was dark and the walls were marred. I also needed to replace the carpet as there were cats living there before and the smell was awfully strong. I only had a ten or twelve-day period to see that all of this got done and I knew no one in the area.
The realtor has three brothers and they all came to remove the wood paneling on the bottom half of the walls, paint the inside of the house, and help repair the fence. They took me to a carpet place and saw that I got their discount on the carpet I put in the house and then arranged for their carpet man to install it. They took me to appliance stores to look for what I wanted. These four men are all 6′ tall or over and the most generous, loving, smart men. They are smart in their businesses, in their remodeling/repair knowledge, and in the way that they always come from their hearts with their minds. They are exceptional in every way and I am forever grateful to them for the loving care they took of my real estate transactions, my home, Reggie, and me.
As they have married and/or had children, I have been invited to share in their lives. This has given me a place in a loving family that gives me community and makes me feel at home in so many ways. These four men, and especially two of them, made moving to a new area and home when I was fragile and vulnerable after my husband’s death a joyful experience filled with comfort on so many levels. They fill a place in my heart that is special. I send them each birthday cards as I am so happy they were born, and I pray for them. I am so thankful for this precious connection that is a gift from Spirit.
Reggie loved them all immediately and gets so excited when any of them come to see us. They love and ask about him; I show photos of him when we are together when he cannot be there. Always, we are in the right place at the right time open to the vast love and tender care that Spirit always brings to us. Our hearts are overflowing with these and all our blessings. Nancy and Reggie♥
