Late last year, I asked Spirit for more social activities in my life. Ask and ye shall receive! My friend from dance invited me to her house for lunch and I accepted as I thought it would be a nice experience. She lives in the mountains southeast of Auburn. It had been raining for two days, but the morning I went, it was not raining for which I was grateful. I put the directions on the passenger seat so I would be able to reach them when I got closer. I left an hour ahead of when I was supposed to be there, just in case I needed more time since I didn’t know where I was going. There is little or no cell phone service in the mountains, so I knew I needed paper directions. I took her directions and then took Map Quest directions also. Spirit was guiding me to be as prepared as possible.
When I started out it was foggy in the valleys with clouds hanging low, but visibility clear. It was a beautiful drive through the mountains with the fog and mist weaving its way through the trees and bushes, lightly touching the streams and lakes. After a while, I passed an inn, the landmark for one more mile to the turnoff. The turnoff was clearly marked and easy to follow. I drove for two miles on a winding road with homes, cabins, or trailers tucked back in the trees, down in the draw by the stream, or up on the side of the hill. Spirit taking me on an imaginary journey through the lives of those by the streams, roads, and pathways of the mountains.
Then I saw a number for a house that was past the number she had written down. So, I turned around and went to the closest cabin on the road. This cabin had dark old wood on the outside with a rusting RV sitting in the yard, a shed with old iron things heaped up in piles and overflowing out into the yard. I walked up the rickety stairs to the porch that had a wooden chair with a can filled with cigarette butts by its leg. A sign on the leaning screen door said “No Smoking – Oxygen in Use.” Spirit giving me visions of scary movies I have seen.
I knocked on the door and was told to come in. When I opened the door stepping just inside, I could hardly see or breathe for the smoke filling the room which was dark except for one fairly large television. The very thin man was laying on the couch covered with a blanket. I told him not to get up that I just needed to know how to get to the house number which I told him. He got up, came over closer and told me he didn’t rightly know, said he had lived there for years, but didn’t know everyone anymore. I thanked him as I backed out the door. I made my way down the stairs and back in the car. The thought crossed my mind that I was so grateful for my life and home. Spirit guided me to send the man pure Divine Light for whatever he needed. That was the purpose of the stop.
I decided to drive off on one of the gravel roads that had some numbers close to the one I was looking for. This was a water-filled, rutted road that meandered back through the mountain. It ended at a nice white house with cars and a pickup, so I got out and asked for directions. The woman knew who I was going to see and said she was just over the hill; i.e., on the other side of the mountain from where we were standing. She gave me good directions and told me that if I couldn’t find it to come back and she would take me there. I told her how lovely that was, thanked her, and retraced my way back to the main road. Spirit giving me a gracious kind woman to help me complete the journey.
I found the road I was to take and made my way one mile back in the mountains on the same water-rutted road, then drove up her driveway only two minutes late. I said a quick prayer of gratitude for getting me there safely and almost on time. She was standing on the step to her house when I opened the car door as she had been watching for me. We hugged, she introduced me to her son then showed me around the house. This was a mountain house with lots of beautiful wood around, a custom wood stove that was huge as it heated the whole house. When she opened the double doors to toss in more wood, I was astounded at how large it was. She had a garden room that was huge with windows along one wall where the sun came shining in from the south when it wasn’t cloudy. She had so many Christmas Cactus that were in bloom, it was delightful to look at them. There were red, white, peach, magenta, and a mix of colors that were just magnificent. She had other plants and herbs there as well. Spirit displaying the beautiful gardener’s heart that she possesses and that we share.
Her son and I were the same height and had spiritual interests which connected us in a quiet soul way. She invited a fellow who works on the property to lunch. She had prepared a feast, baked chicken with fresh rosemary and garlic, and one other kind of chicken which I did not taste, but looked delicious. She made basmati rice and a mixture of fresh vegetables with a delicious sauce on the side if we wanted it. She served me a Sleigh Ride Tea which was flavorful. She served homemade cookies for dessert. We all visited as we ate which was such a delight for all of us as we usually eat by ourselves. Spirit nourishing our bodies and spirits in such a heartwarming, fulfilling beautiful way.
At the end of the meal, the fellow left for a bit and came back with a little jar of gold, gold crystals, and a sizable heart-shaped piece of pure gold that was breathtaking. He was a gold miner and had been searching for gold for years and recently found the heart-shaped piece which he let me hold. He found it in the river while he was scuba-diving for gold. It held such a fine pristine vibration to it that flowed through my body while I was holding it. We began visiting; he is intuitive, a Native American Shaman of the Cherokee Nation, and we had much joy in connecting on a spiritual level. It came time for me to leave, so I hugged and thanked each of them for such a wonderful meal, visit, and sharing from our souls. Spirit gifting me with new friends and heartfelt connections of humans, Spirit, and the Earth.
Reggie was waiting for me when I got home. He wanted his gourmet dinner immediately after I loved on him. Then he was content to spend the rest of the afternoon by my side until it was time for his afternoon walk. He nudged me so I would get his walking vest and leash on so we could go to the parks, he could leave his mark, and greet his friends. Spirit taking us each on an adventure and filling us with such joy at the new and the everyday. We are so very blessed. Nancy and Reggie♥
