Each year I take my taxes to a CPA to be sure that they are done correctly. Frankly, the tax forms and words mystify me as do the allowable deductions, schedules, and other details involved in income tax preparation. I do my part which is to write down my business expenses, income, taxable items, and then my personal income, deductions, and contributions. I like this part the best as it is simple.
Being able to read, understand, and apply all of the income tax laws and changes each year is a complicated and intense job that takes dedicated people with minds that love the myriad of details. I honor, respect, and give great thanks for them as I would be in big trouble if I had to do it on my own.
It is wonderful that there are perfect people for each job or type of work that needs to be done. It is, and mostly has been, my good fortune to have very competent, ethical people assist me. It is a spiritual practice that I stay aware of within myself – that of being competent and ethical; being responsible for my own part of business, whether it is taxes, emails, paying bills, making calls, keeping books, or whatever. It calls me to hold myself and what I do to a higher standard.
Reggie has that same calling to a higher standard – his business is to bark loudly when someone is coming to our front door and he doesn’t stop until I say it is okay. He is doing his job watching the property, barking when anyone walks by the front yard. He watches out for me in a competent and diligent manner. Watching out for each other in ways that are needed, whether business or personal, is a lifetime spiritual practice with everyone and everything for us. Nancy and Reggie♥
